Contemporary Worship Specialists

We have discovered an urgent need in today’s church for Contemporary Worship Specialists who can lead doctrinally sound contemporary worship. So far this role has been filled primarily by professionally untrained lay musicians who are in need of acquiring the skills to select and properly use doctrinally sound contemporary worship resources. The church at large has neglected to provide resources to aid worship planning for this style. A traditional worship leader has resources and staff trained to lead. One can access resources designed to assist every aspect of a traditional worship service but has not seriously considered providing resources for a contemporary worship services.

The institute proposes to develop resources and staff to serve in this area. The Specialist would begin on the job training immediately at a host church. They are learning each week from supervised instruction, and mentoring. The potential specialist commits to two years of distance learning along with attending regular retreats. The host church gains a look at a potential new staff person without having to make a long-term commitment. The Specialist also gains such benefits. The church at large gains doctrinally sound resources and a new way to build contemporary services based on the lectionary with ease.
